Aberdeen city council played host to over 300 adults and carers last month at its learning disability big event’ at the city’s Citadel venue. The event was aimed at promoting the area’s opportunities for people with learning disabilities, especially those on offer in the wider community. The council used the event to launch its new Info-Hub scheme, the first Scottish council-led online information and support website.

North Yorkshire’s extra care strategy

North Yorkshire county council is consulting on a new care strategy that could lead to extra care housing in each of the area’s major towns. The strategy, entitled Care and Support Where I Live, was developed in response to the prediction that, by 2020, almost a quarter of North Yorkshire’s residents will be over 65 and that over 20% more people will have dementia.
