Guideline for children in care

NICE is consulting on a new draft guideline to ensure that children and young people in the care system are able to develop stable, secure relationships with their carers. NICE said that children who are moving through the care system are more prone to having difficulty developing a secure bond, which can lead to problems with their mental health, emotional wellbeing and education.

Children having multiple foster families

Two in five fostered teenagers are living with their third family since coming into care, according to new research from The Fostering Network. Its survey, covering 1,600 children and young people placed with 1,100 foster carers, found that a quarter of fostered teenagers were living with at least their fourth family since entering the care system, with 5% having been placed with at least ten families.
