Eildon Housing Association has opened a £7.9m development, half of which will be an extra care scheme. Dovecot Court, which has been constructed in partnership with Scottish Borders council and the Scottish Government comprises 59 two-bedroom apartments, with 37 offering extra care services.

Two residential care homes in Torquay, Devon have been sold to local operator Beechcroft Care Homes. The 21-bed and 24-bed homes provide old age and dementia care. Beechcroft has already begun plans to upgrade and modernise the two homes.

Castleoak has completed a £40m project with The Fremantle Trust and Buckinghamshire county council to improve the quality of accommodation for older people and adults with learning disabilities across the county. Seven old care homes were redeveloped and a new home built, creating 600 new bed spaces in the homes, which typically cater for 60 to 90 people.

The Abbeyfield Kent Society has opened a new dementia wing at its Greensted care home in Wateringbury, Maidstone. It extends existing facilities at the home by adding a new dining room with seating area, lounge and kitchen specifically designed for service users with the disease.

Social housing provider, bpha, has announced the completion of a £4.8m extra care housing scheme for elderly and disabled people in Trowbridge, Wiltshire. Florence Court, which will be managed by the Orders of St John Care Trust, has 40, two bedroom extra care flats for the elderly, two, three bedroom supported living bungalows for people with learning disabilities, plus social, recreation and medical treatment facilities. The scheme, which was constructed by Leadbitter Group, replaces a Wiltshire council hostel which had been on the site since the 1960s.
