Eligibility criteria restricts access to CAMHS
Analysis of the children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) by think-tank Centre Forum has found that almost a quarter of those referred by GPs cannot access services due to strict eligibility criteria. The high thresholds are leading to 23% of children and young people being turned away from services, preventing early intervention often the most effective treatment of mental health conditions and the governments key strategy for people with mental health issues.
