Germany: Aedifica acquires aged care site in Kassel

Belgian healthcare REIT Aedifica has acquired a healthcare site in Kassel, Hessen, for €20m (US$22.2m).

Wohnstift am Weinberg is located in a residential area in the centre of Kassel. The current building was redeveloped into a residential care facility for seniors in 2001.

The site has a capacity of 144 units, including 47 units catering to seniors requiring continuous care and 97 units catering to seniors opting to live independently with care services available on demand, and is also equipped with a day centre for seniors.

The building will be completely renovated over the next three years. Operations of the site will continue during the works.

The site is operated by Cosiq.

In a separate deal, Aedifica has signed agreements with Burlington Care and Maria Mallaband Care Group to extend nine care homes in the UK for more than US$13m.
