Cura Day Hospitals – Australia’s largest owner of day hospitals – has appointed industry veteran Andrew Currie as the company’s new chief executive officer.
Currie – a Melbourne-native who until recently was chief operating officer of Evercare Group, based in Dubai – before that held the position of state manager of hospitals at Healthscope (Victoria, West Australia and Tasmania) where he led the operations of 22 hospitals.
“Andrew has demonstrated a commitment to the delivery of shareholder value and key financial outcomes including revenue and EBITDA improvement,” said chairman Keith Zabell.
“His extensive knowledge of hospital management coupled with his substantial experience in mergers & acquisitions will be fundamental in the continuation of Cura’s future growth strategy,” he added.
Following a brief period of handover with outgoing chief executive Peter Freeleagus, Currie will start at the end of October.
