The board of healthcare equipment provider Paragon Care has announced several changes to its board and executive team as part of the recent strategic restructuring of the business.
Andrew Just has stepped down from his role as chief executive officer and managing director after joining the company in January last year.
Phil Nicholl has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of Paragon Care. He is currently chief executive of one of Paragon’s largest businesses, Surgical Specialties.
Nicholl has previous experience in the medical devices industry having occupied senior executive roles for industry leaders, including Stryker and Cochlear.
Former chief executive officer, managing director and co-founder of Paragon, Mark Simari will be re-joining the company as a non-executive director.
Simari previously worked at Paragon from 2008 to 2017. He is also a non-executive director of ASX-listed medtech company Novita Healthcare.
As reported in July, Paragon Care sold its legacy capital business to Cabrini Health for A$4.5m (US$3.2m) earlier this year.
The Axis Health business had been a consistent drag on Paragon’s performance in recent years, generating sales of approximately A$20m and pre-tax losses of A$4m-A$5m during the 2018/19 financial year.
