Sri Lanka has started quarantining people travelling from Italy, South Korea and Iran, the countries experiencing major outbreaks of the coronavirus.
Sri Lankan expatriates and foreigners who arrived in the island from South Korea, Italy and Iran have been sent to quarantine centres and an army camp.
All passengers from Italy, South Korea, and Iran will undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Passengers arriving in Sri Lanka from countries other than the three countries have been requested to remain in their homes for 14 days, while the general public is advised to minimize foreign travel as much as possible.
Sri Lankan Airlines suspended flights to China and Saudi Arabia indefinitely.
Sri Lankan health tourism has been targeting people from European countries, including Italy.
