Analysis of children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) by think-tank Centre Forum has found that almost a quarter of those referred by GPs cannot access services due to strict eligibility criteria. The high thresholds are leading to 23% of children and young people being turned away from services, preventing early intervention – often the most effective treatment of mental health conditions and the government’s key strategy for people with mental health issues.
