Mental Health patients ‘feel unsafe’ in hospital

A report by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has found that many mental health patients feel that they unsafe whilst they are in hospital. The report, Completing the Revolution: Transforming mental health and tackling poverty said that hospitals tend to be untheraputic and dangerous places’, and added: Risk aversion drives much detention and insistence on medication but other psychosocial interventions and meaningful activity are often unavailable for patients who also have to cope with fear of attack from fellow patients.’
