In its first ten months of trading, Optalis Limted, the local authority trading company set up by Wokingham Borough Council, has reported revenues of £7.9m and an operating loss of £121,000. The company, set up as part of Wokinghams strategic drive to become a commissioning-led organisation and protect its adult social care services becoming outmoded, expensive and under-used, made a pre-tax loss of £166,000. The directors described the companys financial position at the end of the report period as satisfactory and say it reflects the costs incurred to start up the business.
