Sefton proposes fee freeze

Sefton council has proposed a fee freeze for care homes for the third year in a row – despite a High Court ruling which ruled previous attempts were unlawful due to failing to consult properly with providers (CCMn March 2012). The local authority’s decision could throw into doubt the effectiveness of judicial reveiws as a deterrent to councils freezing fee rates.
