Southern Cross Healthcares interests in the UK care sector finally came to an end this month after it was announced its three remaining homes had been transferred to new operators. Adding to its previous haul of some 35 facilities, Maria Mallaband Care Group has acquired Barnes Court Care Home in Sunderland under its sister company Countrywide Care Homes. Balhousie Care and Care UK picked up a home each in Scotland.
