Macc Care Group has appointed Deena Heaney as dementia lead to bring specialist support and knowledge to its 13 homes.
Heaney joins the group with 40 years of care, housing and management experience. For her services to dementia care, she was awarded an MBE in the 2022 New Year’s honours list.
With previous experience at Anchor and Barchester Healthcare, Heaney’s role at Macc Care will include developing and training interventions to help improve the lives of people living with dementia. She will also work with residents, staff, families and multi-agency services to develop a collaborative approach to person-centred care for each individual.
‘I’m excited to start my next chapter with Macc Care. They have fantastic dementia provisions already, including a state-of-the-art dementia-specific home, but I aim to work closely with each home and its staff to ensure we’re continually providing the best specialist care we can,’ she said.
‘I’m looking forward to seeing the service come together and grow to become positively known within the community as the very best dementia specialists across the Midlands.’
Sharen Guise, director of operations for Macc Care, said: ‘We are thrilled to have Deena join our team and share her expertise with us. Her extensive knowledge and dedication to assisting individuals and their families impacted by dementia are evident, and we are confident that her contributions will assist us in continuing to provide exceptional services to those in our care.’
