Signature appoints director of people and service excellence

Melanie Grigg

Signature Senior Lifestyle has promoted Mel Grigg to the newly created role of director of people and service excellence.

Grigg joins the executive leadership team after previously serving as head of projects, where she led transformation programmes that supported operational performance, organisational growth and improvements to the resident experience. Since joining Signature five years ago, she has led a range of digital transformation initiatives, including the roll out of Care HQ and Sona across the portfolio.

The new role brings together responsibility for people, projects, organisational change and service standards under a single leadership position. Grigg will also oversee the development of Signature’s people strategy, leadership programmes, and colleague engagement initiatives, as well as further IT transformation programmes, so improvements are embedded consistently across the organisation.

The appointment comes as Signature invests in improving the experience of residents and colleagues, including the rollout of its wellness programme, which is designed to support residents’ physical, emotional and social wellbeing through a more holistic approach to later life.

Grigg began her career in sales and commercial leadership across the manufacturing, logistics and distribution sectors before moving into care in 2014 when she joined Sunrise Senior Living.

‘Since joining Signature in 2021 as part of the Sunrise Signature acquisition, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside talented colleagues who genuinely care about making a difference every day. This role brings together two things I’m passionate about: creating an environment where people can thrive and build fulfilling careers and continually improving the experience we provide for our residents,’ said Grigg.

‘My initial focus will be on strengthening our culture through the development of our vision and values, supporting our home-level and regional leaders, embedding a continuous improvement mindset, and ensuring service excellence is foundational to everything we do. I’m excited to continue leading major projects that help Signature stand apart from peers, continue to grow – all while never losing sight of the people at the heart of our organisation.’

Rob Martin, chief executive officer at Signature Senior Lifestyle, added: ‘Mel has already made a significant contribution to Signature through her leadership of several major change projects and I’m delighted she is taking on this important new role. Her appointment reflects our commitment to developing talent from within and ensuring our senior leadership team reflects the values that define Signature.’
