Caremark franchise director Mark Thompson has stepped down from his role to run his own homecare service for the franchisor.

He now runs Caremark Lewes and Wealden North in East Sussex after being director of franchise recruitment for the franchisor for two years.

‘The idea of owning a franchise had always been there, but before taking the leap, I wanted to become part of the team, learn about the sector and see how Caremark operates,’ he said.

‘After some time working at Caremark, it was clear to see the company is built on a foundation of genuine and talented people, and it is growing fast too. In the past two years alone, more franchises have opened and each is on track to turnover £1m in their third year of operation, so financially it has been an easy investment decision to make.’

LaingBuisson estimates about 668,000 adults are in receipt of support from registered homecare or supported living services, including NHS-funded complex care at home. Including people receiving care and support from unregistered services, a maximum of over 800,000 people could be in receipt of homecare or supported living.

Caremark, which has 120 offices across the country, is one of the largest homecare companies in the UK, offering services including older people’s care, respite support, care for children with health difficulties, and assistance for those with disabilities.

David Glover, joint CEO of Caremark, said: ‘We couldn’t be more honoured to have Mark heading up this new franchise. He’s been committed to learning all aspects of this industry and like all our staff, he embodies the values of Caremark that have such a profound impact on our customers’ lives.’
