Cornerstone Healthcare has started building work on its latest development Cale View in Wincanton, Somerset.

The 74-bed home will provide care for adults of all ages, with challenging behaviours associated with complex neurological and mental health conditions.

Care sector designers Northstar will project manage the development, while Midas Construction, part of the Midas Group, is building the home.

Cale View is Cornerstone’s first home to be built from scratch. Its chief executive Johann van Zyl said: ‘This is an important day for us and another step closer to our goal of providing 500 specialist care beds.’

Steve Hart, Midas Construction director, added: ‘We’ll be working with local suppliers and contractors to maximise the positive impact of the build, and we look forward to forging relationships with the local community and businesses.’

The £10m project is partly funded by Virgin Money and Cornerstone’s equity investors Ignite Growth.

Cale View is the fourth home in Cornerstone’s portfolio along with South Africa Lodge and Kitnocks House in Hampshire and Marula Lodge in Surrey.
