Danforth Care Homes opens first setting in Suffolk

Habour Manor

Danforth Care Homes has opened 66-bedroom Harbour Manor in Felixstowe, Suffolk.

Each of the bedrooms has an en suite wet room, as well as a flat screen TV, a mini fridge and underfloor heating. The home, which has been built by LNT, provides residential and dementia care, as well as respite support.

It will offer a personalised activity programme, as well as restaurant, cinema, salon, café and library. The home will create 60 jobs for the area.

With 80% of the available roof space lined with solar panels, the home will be making its own electricity, and selling what it does not need back to the grid. The building also operates without gas and is ‘A’ rated for energy, with an underground system running below the care home to heat the home’s hot water, provide underfloor heating and air cooling for the residents.

Harbour Manor opening

Harbour Manor, Danforth’s first home in Suffolk, was officially opened by the town mayor, councillor Seamus Bennett, last week. Danforth has 18 care homes in its portfolio.
