Exemplar Health Care has started construction on Cheshire Springs, a 20-bed care home in Ellesmere Port that is due to open in spring next year.

It will be the provider’s first home in Cheshire West and Chester and will support adults who are living with complex needs including neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities.

The property will be surrounded by a sensory garden and include a communal hub, living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family.

Around 100 jobs are expected to be created, ahead of the opening and recruitment has started for roles as nurses, healthcare assistants and support staff.

‘Our market intelligence shows that people in Cheshire, who have these complex conditions, are living in inappropriate hospital settings, often for over two years and far away from home,’ said Charlotte Lloyd, Exemplar’s commissioning director.

‘Due to the shortage of high-quality specialist nursing homes in the area, the opening of Cheshire Springs will enable us to provide this vital care, close to home.’

The £5m project has been designed by architect Watson Batty and is being constructed by Pacy and Wheatley.

Exemplar operates 34 homes across Yorkshire, the Midlands, North East and North West. Alternative investment manager Ares Management bought Exemplar Health Care from Agilitas Private Equity for an undisclosed sum in November.
