Oyster Care Homes plans to open Somer Valley House in Midsomer Norton, Somerset, in October.

It has completed the roofing stage of the 66-bed care home and will move on to the next phases of construction. Somer Valley House will be installed with solar panels, a battery store capable of holding two days’ energy, and ground-source heating.

‘We are committed to ensuring that Somer Valley House provides a nurturing, innovative home for our residents, positively impacting the area’s social fabric and economy. Thank you to everyone involved, especially our partners at LNT,’ said Tim Buckley, Oyster Care Homes chief executive.

Once operational, the setting is expected to create over 100 jobs and will be one of four care homes operated by Oyster, which provides residential, dementia and respite care.

George Crockford, LNT site manager, added: ‘This partnership showcases our shared goal of delivering exceptional care environments that prioritise residents’ wellbeing and comfort.’
