Affinity acquires Royal Bucks

Affinity Care Homes, the specialist care services manager, has acquired the Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (RBH) in Aylesbury for an undisclosed sum.

Bondcare is to spend £1m refurbishing four of its care homes in the north east of England. Allan Court, based in Benwell, Newcastle, Debaliol Care Home, which is located in Newbiggin-by-the-Sea, Northumberland, Donwell House Care Home & Day Centre in Washington and Redworth House in Shildon, Co. Durham will all benefit from the investment.

M&G could take over Alliance Medical

Alliance Medical, the diagnostic imaging provider, confirms it is due to refinance and selling a controlling stake in its business to M&G Investments. Alliance Medical has struggled for some time. Its main lenders had to take control in December 2010, after almost a year of speculation on how the debt-ridden company would dig itself out of its £500m-plus black hole.

Bank of Ireland has to exit UK investment

MAHSC appoints new COO

Manchester Academic Health Science Centre has appointed Peter Noble as chief operating officer for the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC), starting on October 1 2013. Mr Noble is currently the director of operations for the Medical Research Council (MRC) in The Gambia, which manages the largest concentration of UK medical research in a developing country. Mr Noble trained as a diagnostic radiographer working in the North of England and subsequently moved to NHS managerial roles in Leeds, Bradford, Liverpool, Harrogate and London.

Advantage boosts turnover ahead of sale

Advantage Healthcare, the provider of healthcare at home services, recently acquired by Interserve plc, showed a healthy turnover growth of 11% in the period to 31 December 2012. Operating profits would have been up if it had not been for exceptional costs relating to its sale, for Advantage was acquired by Interserve during the accounting period and now describes its principal activity as health services at home’.
