Bupa SME customers will be offered Babylon Health’s virtual GP services in the new year, the health insurer has said.

The move follows an expanded partnership between the two companies in June, when Babylon’s services were made available to Bupa’s corporate customers.

From 1 January, new SME policyholders and customers up for renewal will have access to Babylon’s AI-powered GP app.

The extended service includes access to AI-powered triage services, prescription writing with delivery or collection services and GP referrals.

Mark Allan, commercial director, Bupa UK Insurance, said: ‘We’re always looking for ways to make access to quality healthcare easier and more convenient – extending our work with Babylon is a key part of this.

‘We share Babylon’s mission to make healthcare more accessible which is why it’s important we utilise the latest in digital health.’

Babylon’s chief commercial officer Markus Noe-Nordberg said: ‘Thanks to our continuing partnership with Bupa, employees from smaller organisations will be able to benefit from easier, more convenient access to AI-powered health information and GP appointments.’
