Bupa UK has committed to providing opportunities for training that enable people to earn while they learn.
The provident association is the first private healthcare provider to sign up to the 5% Club – a group of multinationals and SMEs committed to recruiting apprentices, sponsored students and graduates for on-the-job training. Other members include the Ministry of Defence, Network Rail and Hilton Hotels.
As part of 5% Club, Bupa has pledged to ensure that 5% of its workforce are in ‘earn and learn’ positions within the next five years. However, it said it already exceeds this figure, with almost 1,000 of its UK employees in similar roles.
Bupa UK CEO David Hynam said: ‘We’re proud to already exceed the 5% figure but our work doesn’t stop there – it is an area we are always looking to grow and we encourage other businesses to work together and participate to help shape our workforce of tomorrow.’
