Cleveland Clinic London has appointed Dr Heather Shaw as oncology vice chief as it prepares to open its new cancer centre in Belgravia at the end of 2027.
Previously deputy medical director at Mount Vernon, Shaw will oversee oncology strategy and service development, including the expansion of clinical services, specialist recruitment and the development of integrated cancer care pathways.
Her appointment comes as Cleveland Clinic London develops its new oncology centre at 40 Grosvenor Place, which will bring together medical and surgical oncology, haematology, radiology, pathology, genetics and supportive care services.
A consultant medical oncologist, Shaw leads the medical oncology skin cancer service at University College London Hospital.
She specialises in melanoma, immunotherapy and the development of new cancer treatments, and is involved in several international clinical trials, including research into cellular therapies, immunotherapy and cancer vaccines. Her work includes a phase 3 trial investigating an individualised mRNA cancer therapy for melanoma.
Beri Ridgeway, president of Cleveland Clinic London, said: ‘Her experience developing innovative cancer services, leading multidisciplinary teams and advancing research will be instrumental as we build a comprehensive oncology programme.’
Shaw said: ‘By recruiting exceptional people and expanding access to emerging treatments, we have an opportunity to create a truly integrated cancer programme that delivers exceptional outcomes and experience for patients and their families.’
