Cancer care provider GenesisCare has appointed Dr Simon Russell as its second doctor director on the UK Board.

Russell, a consultant oncologist with a focus on breast and urological cancers, has an NHS practice at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He trained at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals in London and completed his oncology training at Addenbrooke’s Hospital and University College London. In addition to his NHS work, he is actively involved in private clinical practice and research and is a widely recognised lecturer in his field.

He also serves as associate medical director at Check4Cancer and has substantial experience in the medico-legal sector.

Commenting on his appointment, UK board chair Evelyn Bourke said: ‘I am delighted to welcome Simon to the GenesisCare Board. Simon and GenesisCare have worked closely together over recent years, and his breadth of expertise, combined with experience in developing joint venture models with clinicians, provides us with another strong clinical advocate at Board level.’

Russell added: ‘I am excited to be joining the Board of GenesisCare UK, with whom I have a long-standing relationship. I look forward to supporting the Board and representing the voice of the clinical community as we continue to focus on improving access to high-quality oncology services across the UK.’
