Digital health provider Hims & Hers has appointed former Babylon Health clinical leader Dr Kultar Garcha as chief medical officer for the UK and EMEA as it continues to expand internationally.
Garcha, who has15 years of experience as an NHS GP, will oversee clinical quality, patient safety and prescribing standards across the company’s UK and European markets.
He joins Hims & Hers’ global medical leadership team, led by global chief medical officer Dr Pat Carroll, and brings more than 20 years’ experience across public and private healthcare in the UK and internationally.
His clinical work has included expanding perinatal mental healthcare for mothers and examining functional and behavioural health outcomes in perimenopause and menopause. He also sits on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence’s (NICE) Quality Standards Advisory Committee.
Garcha’s appointment forms part of Hims & Hers’ expansion of its international medical leadership team. He joins Dr Sandy Van, chief medical officer of Canada, and Dr Matt Vickers, chief medical officer of Hims Australia.
‘You can’t build the right clinical strategy from the outside looking in. Dr Garcha and Dr Vickers bring nearly 30 years of combined experience in public healthcare systems, seeing patients regularly,’ said Carroll. ‘They know the regulatory landscape, but just as important, they know what it’s actually like for a patient trying to get care in each of these systems. That’s the kind of leadership we’re investing in as we scale.’
Garcha said: ‘As a GP, my job has always been to look at the whole person, not just the problem in front of me. Hims & Hers takes that same instinct and gives it a deeper impact, bringing that kind of comprehensive care to patients broadly.
‘I’m looking forward to making sure that kind of care reaches more people across the UK and Europe, regardless of where someone lives or how well they can navigate the traditional healthcare system.’
