Prins appointed COO at Nuffield Health

Former Circle Health Group chief operating officer and acting CEO Karen Prins has been appointed chief operating officer for hospitals at Nuffield Health.

Prins (pictured), who was CEO of BMI Healthcare prior to its 2020 acquisition by Circle, will take up her new role with the charitable hospital group in October.

The news follows the announcement of Paul Manning as Circle Health Group CEO earlier this month.

Originally practising as a GP in South Africa, Prins moved into hospital management with senior roles at BMI Healthcare’s former owners Netcare, where she led large-scale hospital operations and delivered one of Africa’s largest Public-Private Partnerships. She moved to the UK in 2017 to become CEO of BMI Healthcare, where she oversaw major restructuring, before transitioning to Circle.

Nuffield Health CEO Alex Perry, said: ‘We’re delighted Karen is joining the team at Nuffield as we take the organisation to a new level of healthcare delivery and operational performance. We searched worldwide for this role, to bring our patients the best possible capability, and she was the stand-out candidate.’

Commenting on her new role, Prins added: ‘I am excited to be joining the dynamic team at Nuffield Health and look forward to supporting the delivery of great care to the communities that we serve.’
