Rehabilitation services provider Renovo Care Group has appointed Professor Anbananden Soopramanien as group medical director.

He will be responsible for contributing to the strategic development of the group’s health and care business plans, providing medical advice to the board of directors and leadership to the medical teams across its two hospital sites.

Soopramanien is a consultant in spinal injuries and rehabilitation medicine and has worked in specialist spinal rehabilitation centres in the UK and Europe. He acts as chair for the affiliated societies and networks of the International Spinal Cord Society.

Soopramanien was previously an NHS consultant and his last role was with Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust at its Spinal Treatment Centre. He still holds practising privileges with Spire Hospital in Hertfordshire and New Hall Hospital in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

He said: ‘My ethos is that high quality of care, well-trained staff and active research should be our drivers at Renovo Care and that will be one of my key focuses.

‘I want our hospitals to become leaders in neurological rehabilitation nationally and internationally and to develop a culture of teaching and research.’

Phillip Smith, chief executive of Renovo Care Group, said: ‘[Soopramanien’s] appointment reinforces our vision to be recognised as the leading provider of neurorehabilitation services to the communities we serve by consistently providing high quality care that promotes and supports the best rehabilitative care outcomes possible.’
