Care investor Montreux Healthcare Fund has bought Chester Healthcare Limited (CHL), a healthcare staffing business, for an undisclosed sum.

CHL operates in the North West and South West of England and is part of care services provider Jane Lewis.

The deal is expected to add £1m in EBITDA to specialist care provider Active Assistance, which Montreux acquired in January, and open up opportunities for expansion.

Montreux said its capture of CHL will enable a more flexible staffing model to be put in place at Active, while ‘dramatically reducing’ agency use and providing ‘some migration of post-Brexit staffing risk’.

The Chester-headquartered provider works with NHS trusts, providing nursing jobs in Chester, Wirral, Liverpool and Warrington, as well as private nursing homes in Cheshire and Merseyside.

Oliver Harris, chief executive of Montreux, said: ‘The purchase of CHL is a good strategic acquisition for Active Assistance as it will allow the business to have access to a flexible staffing pool at much lower cost than most of its competitors.

‘We feel that the acquisition will help with the staffing headwinds which might occur post-Brexit and that, more importantly, the integration of this business will increase Active Assistance’s appeal upon exit.’
