Enhanced Community Healthcare Options (ECHO), in conjunction with construction company Seddon Group, is investing £12m in a new 51-bed mental health centre for people recovering from psychological trauma.

Malsis Hall in Glusburn near Keighley, West Yorkshire plans to accept referrals from a 30-mile radius and will offer a holistic approach to treatment, with individual care needs reassessed on a regular basis.

There will be close links with local schools, support groups, and sporting teams, as well as an opportunity for residents to get real life work experience close to the facility.

Echo director Andrew Shelton Murray said: ‘The specialist rehabilitation care that will be provided is designed to help people to recover in a supportive and inclusive environment, and eventually reach the stage where each individual can live independently.’

The centre will open in two phases in early summer and autumn.
