Cygnet to open new acute service for men

Cygnet Health has announced that it will open a new acute service for men on Monday 20 May in its Churchill Hospital in South London.

Juniper Ward will provide 17 beds and a safe and stabilising environment for men who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.

The service will aim to assess and treat patients in the least restrictive environment and plan for discharge in a robust and timely fashion. With a focus on stabilisation, the team on Juniper Ward will support service users to manage their mental health, reinforce daily living skills and prepare for independent life back in the community.

The service is designed for men aged 18 and over, who may be informal or detained under the Mental Health Act or who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness requiring a crisis admission.
