Duchy Hospital in Truro, part of Ramsay Health Care UK, has opened a new £6.5m imaging centre featuring a static MRI scanner designed to deliver faster scan times and improved patient comfort.
Ramsay said the new scanner can reduce scan times by up to 70% compared with traditional MRI systems. It also includes a wide bore and quieter technology intended to reduce anxiety for patients, particularly those who are claustrophobic. In addition to its clinical performance, the new scanner reduces energy use by up to 40%.
The scanner will support a range of specialties, including neurology and musculoskeletal imaging.
Louise Rowbotham, hospital director at Duchy Hospital, said: ‘We are delighted to open our new imaging centre, which represents a significant investment in diagnostic excellence for our community. This advanced MRI scanner not only improves the speed and quality of imaging but also enhances patient comfort and experience – something we’re deeply committed to at Duchy.’
