Elysium opens neurological service

Elysium Neurological, part of Elysium Healthcare, has opened a specialised neurobehavioural rehabilitation service for adults in Swindon.

The purpose-built Avalon Centre will provide a local and national service for patients suffering behavioural changes as a result of an acquired brain injury.

It will be led by hospital director Andy Birkett and Professor Nick Alderman, who both have extensive experience in neurobehavioural rehabilitation.

The building comprises 18 individual en-suite bedrooms and two self-contained flats built around two enclosed courtyards, with extensive gardens and dedicated therapy and communal spaces.

Commenting on the opening, Elysium Healthcare CEO Joy Chamberlain said: ‘We had been searching for the perfect site for this service for a number of years. I am delighted that the refurbishment is complete and that we have recruited a first-class clinical team led by Professor Nick Alderman to deliver this important service.’
