Healthcode and Patient Zone launch e-billing pilot

Health Code and Patient Zone hope the new service will speed up billing and payments for private healthcare practitioners

Healthcare technology specialist Healthcode has partnered with online platform Patient Zone to launch a new e-billing service.

The two companies have embarked on a short pilot to test how Healthcode’s e-billing tool can work with a secure billing and payment portal for patients developed by Patient Zone. It is hoped the services will provide practices with a more efficient way to bill self-funded patients and PMI shortfalls, improving both cashflow and patients’ experience.

Practices taking part in the pilot will be able to create a patient ‘ebill’ without setting up a merchant account on the ePractice system and send it to Patient Zone, where the patient can access it and pay by credit or debit card.

Healthcode managing director Peter Connor said: ‘When we surveyed customers last year, e-billing and payments for patients were at the top of their wish list so I’m delighted to be working with Patient Zone to make this a reality. Once the pilot has been completed, I’m confident that it will become an essential service for ePractice users who want a fast, simple and secure way to manage these transactions. Healthcode’s collaboration with Patient Zone is also proof of the value of interoperable technology which enables ePractice to connect seamlessly with the Patient Zone platform.’
