Optegra Eye Health Care has launched a new partnership programme designed to strengthen links with community optometrists referring patients for private cataract and vision correction treatment.
The initiative, called ConnectedCare, aims to create a referral and follow-up pathway between Optegra clinics and community optometry practices, with patients returning to their original optometrist for ongoing care after treatment.
Under the programme, participating optometrists can refer private patients to Optegra for cataract surgery and vision correction procedures. Following treatment and post-operative checks at Optegra, patients are directed back to their optometrist for continued eye health monitoring.
As part of the scheme, optometrists will carry out a wellbeing check-in call after treatment to discuss recovery and encourage patients to maintain their aftercare regime.
The programme also includes compensation for optometry practices that complete the welfare call and submit an assessment through Optegra’s online platform.
Boots Opticians Godalming optometrist Nick Tippett said the practice had already referred patients through the scheme.
‘We have referred a number of our patients to Optegra under the ConnectedCare agreement. Our patients are very appreciative of the post-treatment welfare check and the opportunity to ask any questions,’ he said.
‘From a practice perspective, it also allows us to maintain a strong, ongoing relationship with our patients. We have had some wonderful feedback regarding the surgeons and the care they have offered our patients.’
Optegra head of sales (south) Justin Cook (pictured) said the programme had been designed to simplify the referral process for optometrists.
‘There is no intense paperwork, just a simple activity which adds value to the patient in terms of their follow-up care, while encouraging optometrists to refer their patients to Optegra with this chance to increase their own revenue,’ he said.
‘The optometry practice will be compensated for delivering the welfare call and completing an assessment on our website. We are excited to have launched this initiative and look forward to seeing the positive outcomes it delivers.’
Optegra commercial director Adam Cockley said: ‘We see ConnectedCare as a creative opportunity to leverage our relationship with the many optometrists we work with and provide a high quality of support and treatment for our shared patients, while further strengthening our relationship with community optometrists.’
