Switzerland: Hirslanden signs second PPP

Basel-Land Cantonal Hospital (KSBL)

The Hirslanden Private Hospital Group has signed a public-private partnership agreement with the Basel-Land Cantonal Hospital (KSBL) to treat musculoskeletal disorders.

At the end of October, the largest medical network in Switzerland inked a similar PPP agreement with the university hospitals of Geneva (HUG).

KSBL and the Hirslanden Group will offer inpatient and outpatient healthcare services for musculoskeletal disorders, geriatric traumatology and musculoskeletal rehabilitation in northwest Switzerland. The KSBL’s orthopaedic clinic and Hirslanden Klinik Birshof will join forces to establish themselves in future as one of the seven A1 orthopaedic hospitals in Switzerland.

“An integrated treatment chain from the first consultation to follow-up treatment will be established to ensure that everything can be provided by a single source,” said Stephan Pahls, one of the chief operating officers at Hirslanden. “Our new institution will bring together proven experts for the musculoskeletal system who cover all modern diagnostic procedures and treatment methods,” he added.

“This cooperation initiative between two partners who will now jointly offer top-class orthopaedic treatment is not only a win-win for us, but also for all patients in the region,” emphasised Madeleine Stöckli, chairman of KSBL.

The joint venture will be established in the first quarter of 2020. The Hirslanden Group will be responsible for the management.
