UCLH Private Healthcare launches private pituitary surgery service

UCLH Private Healthcare has introduced a new private pituitary surgery service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

The service, led by consultant neurosurgeon Hani Marcus, leverages the hospital’s expertise in advanced surgical techniques and innovations in pituitary surgery.

The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery hosts the largest pituitary service in the UK, with a strong reputation for quality and safety. The hospital is also at the forefront of surgical innovations, including the use of artificial intelligence and robotics in pituitary procedures.

Marcus, who leads the new service, said: ‘We can provide a full range of surgical options, including endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery, which is the gold-standard treatment for most symptomatic adenomas. This is one of the best examples of minimally invasive surgery, offering a faster recovery, reduced risk of complications, and no visible scarring.’

In addition to surgical interventions, the hospital offers medical therapy and radiotherapy for selected cases, particularly where surgery is challenging or there is residual disease or recurrence from a previous pituitary disorder.

Kerensa Heffron, director of private healthcare at UCLH, added: ‘The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery has always been highly respected for its excellence in pituitary surgery, and we are delighted that we can now extend this service to our private patients.’
