UK Vein Clinic partners with wound healing specialist

UK Vein Clinic has partnered with Pioneer Wound Healing and Lymphoedema Centres to expand access to specialist care for patients with leg ulcers, lymphoedema and venous disease.

The collaboration will combine consultant-led venous diagnostics and minimally invasive treatments with specialist wound healing and lymphoedema services to provide a more integrated care pathway for patients with complex lower limb conditions.

More than one million adults in the UK are affected by leg ulcers, with between 560,000 and 730,000 cases treated each year. Many patients continue to face delays in accessing vascular assessment despite venous insufficiency being a leading cause of leg ulcers and ulcer recurrence.

The partnership aims to improve access to venous assessment and treatment alongside wound care and lymphoedema management, in line with national and international guidance on leg ulcer care pathways.

UK Vein Clinic founder Jason Powell said: ‘We know that venous disease is a major driver of delayed healing and recurrence of leg ulcers.

‘Working alongside Pioneer means we can deliver venous assessment earlier in the pathway, in line with national and international guidelines for leg ulcer care. It’s a practical step that will help reduce delays and support more sustainable outcomes for patients who often face long and difficult journeys.’

Pioneer chief nurse Professor Jenni MacDonald said: ‘I’m so excited we’ve created the type of service many healthcare professionals dream of providing.

‘I can’t wait to see the impact of vein treatments on the healing of our patients’ leg ulcers. Patients dealing with lipoedema and lymphoedema often have vein issues too, which can make their symptoms worse, so I feel proud that we can now offer vein scans and treatments to improve this.’

UK Vein Clinic was founded in 2020 and provides specialist venous care using diagnostic imaging and minimally invasive procedures. Pioneer provides wound healing and lymphoedema services and focuses on multidisciplinary treatment approaches for patients with lower limb conditions.
