Schoen Clinic to open Chelsea mental health facility

German healthcare provider Schoen Clinic is expanding its presence in the UK mental health market with the opening of its first specialist facility in London.

Due to open this Spring, Schoen Clinic Chelsea will offer highly specialised outpatient and day clinic services for privately funded patients with eating disorders, anxiety and depression.

A comprehensive range of care pathways based on Schoen Clinic’s stepped care approach will be on offer for children, adolescents and adults. Treatment will be provided by multi-disciplinary teams comprising psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, therapists, dieticians and specialist nurses and each patient’s individual pathway will be managed by a dedicated care coordinator.

The new facility will include six consulting and individual therapy rooms, three group therapy rooms, a patient lounge and relaxation area alongside a training kitchen and dining area.

Schoen Clinic, which opened its first specialist orthopaedic hospital in London last year, entered the UK mental health market with the acquisition of Birmingham-based Newbridge House for Eating Disorders in 2017. Earlier this year, the company expanded into York with the acquisition of two adult service units from The Retreat York, which ceased provision of inpatient and residential services at the end of last year.

Established in Bavaria in 1985, Schoen Clinic is Germany’s fourth largest hospital provider with 17 facilities and over 5,000 beds.
