Abu Dhabi partners with USA

Yas Clinic Group (YCG) in Abu Dhabi has partnered with the USA’s Globus Medical, to successfully conduct what they claim to be the Middle East’s first robot assisted spine surgery. YCF is looking to establish a spine centre of excellence in Abu Dhabi to offer Middle East patients cutting edge surgical and non-surgical treatment of spinal pathologies.

The surgery was conducted by Emirati neurosurgeon Dr Abdul Salam Abu Baker Al Belushi.

YCG is a research-driven healthcare network based in Abu Dhabi. Its vision is to pioneer medical research locally to ensure that the people of the United Arab Emirates and beyond get the best care possible.

Globus Medical is a USA based company that develops spinal and orthopaedic implants and surgical instruments for patients with spine disorders.

The UAE is developing other specialised healthcare facilities and has recently announced another new project in advanced cancer treatment. The joint venture between Royal Strategic Partners in Abu Dhabi with Dubai-based MIG Group and Star Energy of Austria will build a neutron therapy hospital.  The aim of the centre is to become the main hub for research and development of the latest technologies to treat advanced cancer in the GCC region.
