Cleveland Clinic has submitted plans to Westminster City Council to operate a 205-bed private hospital near Buckingham Palace in London.

If approved, the new development would be Cleveland Clinic’s first hospital in London, adding another international location to a health system that includes a 165-acre main campus near downtown Cleveland, nine regional hospitals throughout Northeast Ohio, and hospitals in Weston, Florida.; Las Vegas, Nevada.; Toronto, Canada; and Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The application includes 205 beds and eight operating rooms in the six-storey, office building in central London. Special services will focus on general surgery, cardiology and neurology. There will be no emergency department.

CEO Toby Cosgrove comments, “London offers a unique combination of world leading medical research and some of the best and most respected healthcare professionals. Our goal is to complement – not compete – with medical offerings already available in the London market.”
