Dental tourism to Mexico rebounds

According to a clinic in California, dental tourism from the USA to Mexico is rebounding at speed.

Dr. Mexico Border Clinic is a dental tourism clinic near San Diego, California claiming to offer state-of-the-art tools and techniques at affordable dental services.

Seeing a surge in cross border dental tourism, the clinic has launched a new branch in Tijuana, in the Mexican state of Baja California, located two blocks away from the border crossing point in Tijuana.

Each year, thousands of medical tourists cross the border into Mexico for dental work in the small town of Los Algodones. This is located at the intersection of California, Arizona, and Baja California, Mexico and has just 5,000 residents. There are almost 600 dentist’s offices in the town. More than 90% of their dental clients come from the United States and Canada. Both residents and tourists refer to Los Algodones as ‘Molar City’.

Part of the appeal of Mexico is that patients can also purchase some types of medication without a prescription.
