The merger between DNV and GL is now approved. The new company – DNV GL – is now fully operational. Norwegian based DNV GL is one of the top three management system certification bodies in the world. The competition authorities in South Korea, the USA, the EU and China have cleared the merger between the two well-regarded companies, both of which will soon celebrate 150 years of independent operations.

Norwegian based DNV GL is one of the top three management system certification bodies in the world. The competition authorities in South Korea, the USA, the EU and China have cleared the merger between the two well-regarded companies, both of which will soon celebrate 150 years of independent operations. The new company, formally called DNV GL Group, will have 17,000 employees across 300 sites in more than 100 countries, and revenues of EUR 2,500 million per year.

DNV GL has launched a global Managing Infection Risk (MIR) Certification programme –the first and only global hospital certification for excellence in managing infection risk. Hospitals around the world are grappling with the rising costs – both in terms of patient outcomes and funding – of healthcare associated infections and emerging pandemic risks. DNV GL surveyors work with hospitals to better understand their strengths, identify any safety gaps, and improve their current processes to more effectively and comprehensively reduce the risk of infection and improve patient and staff safety.
The first two hospitals in the world to receive the MIR Center of Excellence are USA hospitals, Sentara Leigh and Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospitals in Virginia.
