The Egyptian Cabinet has approved creating a Supreme Committee for Medical Tourism that will be set up in 2018 to take over preparations for a general project for medical tourism in Egypt.

The committee’s mission is to choose hospitals and human resources that can benefit the system and put into place the mechanism and follow-ups. The committee is also responsible for monitoring the work to ensure that the service is functioning.

The committee aims to support Egypt’s role in carrying out the sustainable development plan of 2030. Meanwhile, the committee wants to attract foreign investment to Egypt for the establishment of projects that serve medical tourism and encourage participation of the civil community and private sector.

Medical tourists are mainly from North, East and West Africa plus Gulf states.
