Germany’s Schoen Clinic opens in UK

The largest family-run hospital group in Germany, Schoen Clinic, has opened in the UK. It’s the company’s first purpose-built hospital outside of its home country.

The Schoen Clinic London, in Harley Street, offers rapid assessment, expert diagnosis and treatment from leading orthopaedic surgeons.

The largest family run hospital group in Germany was founded by the Schoen family in 1985, it specialises in psychosomatics, orthopaedics, neurology, surgery and internal medicine. It has 23 hospitals and clinics in Bavaria, Hamburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig Holstein and the United Kingdom. It treats 300,000 patients per year.

The London site is a new 39-bed state-of-the-art centre of excellence. It accepts self-pay, insured and international patients. The purpose-built hospital contains ten consultation rooms, two minor treatment rooms, a physiotherapy department with gym and an imaging suite with MRI, CT and digital x-ray. For inpatients, the seven-floor building also includes three laminar flow theatres, eight day beds and 39 inpatient bedrooms, including a VIP suite with roof terrace and private access.

The group previously bought Newbridge House clinic in Birmingham, a specialist in eating disorders. Schoen will also open a third location, in London’s Chelsea area in 2019.
