China intends to be a major destination for medical tourism, mostly in the island province of Hainan. At a recent conference held in Boao Lecheng, 230 representatives from departments of Hainan Province, tourism research institutes, medical and tourism companies and organisations in China and worldwide discussed the development opportunities of medical tourism in Hainan. The Hainan Provincial Health Tourism Association was also launched, to promote Hainan’s health and medical tourism.
After testing to prevent and control epidemics, the Hainan tourism economy has recovered significantly, and Hainan has gradually become a well-known safe travel destination.
Hainan is actively developing medical tourism. Hainan Island has unique geographical and ecological advantages, and with the rapid construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, its status as a tourism destination has gradually increased, attracting both local and foreign tourists.
As the health care industry develops in Hainan, with increased international investment, medical tourism will open up new opportunities for development with high-quality medicine and healthcare.
The conference provided an in-depth analysis of trends in medical tourism, looking at the latest challenges of global health and medical tourism destinations and how it can be applied to the development of health and medical tourism in Hainan.
