Indian insurer, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance, has launched Global Health Care insurance that offers offshore treatment for Indian customers. It provides cover for planned as well as emergency treatment outside India, stating that there is a growing demand from its customers for this kind of cover so that they can have access to the best hospitals and best doctors for meeting their healthcare needs.

Bajaj Allianz India is a joint venture between Bajaj FinServ and Allianz. Indian group Bajaj FinServ holds a 74% stake.

The product is aimed at high net worth Indians, top executives, students, parents visiting children abroad and leisure travellers who have purchasing power and the desire to get the best possible advances in treatments.

Allianz Partners Asia Pacific says that there is a huge demand from the Indian subcontinent for accessing healthcare abroad. There is a growing trend for Indians going to the USA, Canada, Singapore, Australia and Dubai for treatment.

Allianz General Insurance has collaborated with international health insurance specialist Allianz Partners in designing the product, using the Allianz global network, technology platform and claim settling capabilities. Allianz has one million service providers in its network in 195 countries.

The product allows for seamless treatment in India and overseas. It is available as Imperial Plan and Imperial Plus Plan, and both offer international and domestic covers with benefits including in-patient hospitalisation, day care procedures, palliative care, medical repatriation, air ambulance, living donor medical costs, modern treatment methods, technological advancement and mental illness.

Policyholders have the option to choose between worldwide cover, including the USA and worldwide cover, excluding the USA.
