Mayo Clinic / Oxford University partnership launches in London

Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust has teamed up with Oxford University and major US healthcare provider Mayo Clinic to launch a private diagnostics clinic in London.

The Oxford University Clinic, a partnership between Oxford University and Oxford University Hospitals Foundation Trust, has been working with the Mayo Clinic to drive advances in medical research.

In its first joint venture, the partnership will open a new private screening and diagnostics clinic in Portland Place, London, which is due to open this month. It will have state of the art MRI and CT scanners, as well as an endoscopy suite. The solely private clinic, branded Mayo Clinic Healthcare in partnership with Oxford University Clinic, will offer leading-edge diagnostic and screening services, along with access to a network of 4,000 experts.

Profit made will be reinvested in research, teaching and clinical care.

The collaboration will allow Oxford and Mayo researchers and clinicians to work together in research; teaching and clinical care to make advances in medicine.

Mayo’s long-term aim is to move towards individualised and proactive care. In the case of the London clinic, the venture will take those efforts a step further, allowing Mayo and Oxford to create a template for preventative healthcare that could potentially be implemented elsewhere.
