According to iafrica, Nigerians annually spend US$200m on medical tourism to India. The article says that while India has been a popular option for many African citizens, South Africa is an emerging option as a medical travel destination. Previous claims by Nigerian government officials, reported in the Nigeria IMTJ Country Profile, have stated that at least US$1 billion is spent annually just on state and other officials, for outbound medical tourism.
