One Call/ One Click Transportation

JTA’s new medical travel programme for Florida residents receives funding. The One Call/ One Click Transportation Resource Centre will develop an interface between the area’s medical system software and JTA’s TransPortal.

The Jacksonville Transportation Authority has been awarded a $399,200 grant from the Federal Transit Administration, which will be used to emphasize public transport as a way to access non-emergency healthcare and have better overall health.

The grant is part of the FTA’s Rides to Wellness Initiative. The funds will go to a proposed project, the One Call/ One Click Transportation Resource Centre that will develop an interface between the area’s medical system’s software and JTA’s TransPortal. JTA’s TransPortal, launched two years ago, helps Northeast Florida residents find the best transportation options for their trip needs.

With one click, the interface will provide the person scheduling an appointment with travel times for public transit and costs that fit each of the available appointments. The scheduler can select the best appointment time and provide travel information to the facility either verbally, via email or via text.

The JTA will work with UF Health to develop the project plan. It helps open the lines of communication between medical staff and transport providers to work together to find solutions to improve access to medical resources in Northeast Florida, especially for low-income, elderly and disabled customers.
